White Kisses GDR specializes in special needs danes, if you are interested in adopting one of our special needs danes- these next few questions HAVE to be answered.

Note: If you are not applying for a special needs dane (special needs danes include deaf, blind, cow-hocked or any other health issues that will require on going/life time care); please skip these next questions.

Have you ever owned a special needs great dane?

If you said yes, do you still have this dane? At what age did he/she pass and why. Did he/she have other health issues besides deafness/blindness?

WHY do you want to be owned by a special needs dane?

Do you realize this special needs danes can and often do have many other health issues other then just deafness/blindness?

Do you realize their vet care can be expensive?

If you are applying for one of our danes that is not deaf/blind, but still special needs because of other medical issues; have you done research on the medical issues they have listed in their bios?

We may require that you have a trainer on hand for certain dogs and ALL puppies (dogs under a year); which we will call and verify- so we recommend you start making phone calls and have a plan together if you don't already have a trusted trainer. We can often recommend a trainer if the adopter lives in Texas.

Note: Keep in mind, not every dog is a candidate for travel. Transportation outside of Texas is the adopters responsibility. Also, though you may have applied for a specific dog, that does not mean that is the dog you will get to adopt if approved. We fit the dogs to their new families; if we feel the dog is not a fit for your family, we will suggest dogs that would be a fit for your family. Our number one priority is the Dog. We do not take placements lightly.

Adopted pets need adjustment time.

Note: Keep in mind that your new family member has been dumped by his/her original family. They've likely endoured a long trip to get to rescue. They are in a new house, with a new family, new pets, new everything. They've been vetted- they are often confused and scared. They need time to adjust and settle in. Some dogs adjust fast, others need more time. Put yourself in their shoes and understand what has just happened to them- love and understand that. Give them the time they require to settle into their new lives.

Note: We do stay in contact with you after adoption for an extrended period of time; if not forever. Dog's with life-time medical needs- consider us your extended family; we will be in contact with you the remainder of the dog's life. Adopters are in a life-time relationship with both us and our dogs for the most part. If for any reason the dog is not working out and you have given he or she time to adjust, we WANT the dog returned to us. We have a strict return and refund policy. All dogs are adopted out on a return contract.

I also agree to contact White Kisses GDR about problems that might arise in the future. Should the dog ned to be removed or euthanized (prior to normal old age) I will contact White Kisses GDR first to determine whether the dog might be a candidate for placement elsewhere.
